A little balance is required here. I could go on for pages, but you will get the idea. No story is one sided and there is much blame which can be spread among all concerned.
However, your one sided listing of issues only contributes to the hysteria and anti semetic actions of those who would grasp those words as a missive of support.
The Jews and arabs of many tribes lived, traded, and prospered alongside one another for thousands of years in this very same land, until the rise of the Muslim religion. This fact is indisputable as one studies history and the ancient texts. Such accommodations with each other took place even under Roman rule.
When Israel was formed in partition, the Palestinians were offered a state alongside Israel. They refused and chose war. They continue to choose war and have abrogated every opportunity to strike a lasting peace through many administrations in the US and Israel. The elimination of Israel is the only possible outcome for them, irregardless of the suffering their population endures.
In the intervening years, allied arab armies have declared and waged surprise wars on Israel and were defeated each time. Syria and Lebanon exist today under a state of war with Israel even though they are not actively fighting these days.
The muslim world has repeatedly stated it will not live in peace with Israel. It’s only goal is the destruction of Israel.
Like it or not, Israel is an ally of the United States and we are bound to defend it as we would expect them to come to our defense if needed. Had we not come to the aid of our allies in Europe, Germany would have succeeded in WWII.
Palestinian and hizbollah terrorists hide and launch strikes against Israel from populated areas. These terrorist strikes are not aimed at military targets, but civilians in all walks of life. If you wage war from within civilian populations, civilians will be casualties. It is their choice, and they bear the responsibility. I see no muslim countries, nor Lebanon itself, declaring that these strikes must stop or the terrorists move away from civilian areas.
Arab countries do nothing to help the Palestinians other than to provide money and arms for war. They take no active part in any negotiations that might assist the resolution of various issues. They give no support in any way in regards to social programs or the means for the Palestinians to improve their lives. Why is that? Perhaps the arab countries really do not care what happens to the Palestinians.
So there is much to be said on both sides.
But, rather than place blame and continue to stir up the hatred, why not find some form of common ground to begin a dialogue for peace?
Well, that can only happen if both sides are willing.
The muslim countries have proven time and time again that they are not…cannot…will not. They embrace war and death. Peace is not in their vocabulary.
Hi Haily, I sent you an e-mail. Thanks for commenting.
And thank you too Chuck for putting a balance on things ;)
